JD W.

JD is all about Magnum, P.I. He can grow his hair like him, wear oversized hats like him, wear really bad sweater / shorts / topsider shoe combinations like him, and freeload off of his friends like him. Unfortunately, he doesn't have a cool sports car like him, have a rent-free home like him, live in Hawaii like him, have Special Forces training like him, or get to fly around in an Island Hoppers Helicopter like him. On the plus side, JD doesn't even attempt the mustache.
JD didn't work in Naval Intelligence either, but he does study Modern European History. So that's sort of the same, only completely different. He doesn't have a 9m handgun either.
So he's just like Magnum, only lame.

Ren Lessard

Ren Marine!

Ren like food!

Ooh-rah!!

I am from California's central valley, the most glorious place God has ever seen fit to put on the Earth, which is why no one lives there. In the valley I learned to love indie rock--the more obscure the better--and I am totally a rock star myself.

For some reason, Tom tells me I look like Garry Wills' long lost love child. I think it's because Tom is an a-hole.

I'm Canadian, eh! I like maple syrup and beavers, eh. For me, it's all aboot the maple syrup and beavers. And hockey. Hockey is cool too, eh.

(actually) Mark

I just realized (and yes I know it took over a year), that Tom seems to be the only American who thinks that all Canadians say "hey", eh. Because I've met all Americans, and they talk funny, eh.

Tom Bruscino

I am a historian of American military and political history, with an emphasis on the Second World War era.

I did my undergraduate work at Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado, where I was also a very average football player. From there I went to Ohio University, where I earned a Master's and Doctorate in United States History.

I am originally from the rough and tumble suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio, and for this reason I am subject to the lifelong curse of being a fan of all Cleveland sports. On Autumn Sundays I can be found beating my head against bars, tables, chairs, etc. as my beloved Browns sink to new levels of futility.

My published articles have appeared in Reviews in American History, the Journal of America's Military Past, the Claremont Review of Books, the San Luis Valley Historian, and on the History News Network, and I have delivered papers at a variety of conferences and symposia. I am currently at work on, among other things, a manuscript on the World War II Army as a melting pot for white ethnic and religious America.
